Is war ever Justified essays
Is war ever Justified essays Life has many amazing things to offer. Life presents us to things such as feelings, people, events, and at last death. Being alive means having the opportunity to learn, to love, to hurt, to feel unhappiness and joy. Life teaches us many good things throughout the years, however as great as life can be, it can also be very painful, destroying and even unfair. Just as we have love, we also have hatred. We have people in the world who are jealous for one reason or another. People who are jealous of other people or/and their countries. In this case Im talking about the United States. Because the United States has a good army, good governments and economy, other countries envy it. They start hating for not much reason and sooner or later they try starting a war. War is a horrible fight that is fought among countries; it kills thousands, and thousands, even millions of people. War is a frightening event that occurs through out life. People go into war for countless reasons; however power is a main factor of war. Wanting to have more power and not wanting to share it becomes a terrible problem. Some people are greedy and selfish and just simply want more and more of it. Whatever the reason might be, I think war is something we should try to avoid if possible. If its not necessary to kill millions of innocent people, then why do it? There can always be a way of compromising. Personally, I think that war is not justified. I agree, that sometimes you are forced to do things you might not want to do, however, I dont think that it makes war acceptable. I dont think that killing millions of innocent children, and people is necessary. Some people think war is justified because, they think that that is the only solution , I think theyre wrong because rather than war being the only solution my opinion is that war is the easy way out. Compromising and discussing their different points of views. Can always be a ...

The same is true for liberal arts education, the resulting idea(s) and/or concept(s) is derived from the combination used to create it. Ã Ã A liberal arts education provides a strong foundation of knowledge in many fields allowing students to create new theories and inventions. With this foundation, there are endless possibilities that students can expand and build on what others have learned rather than wasting time on what has already been discovered. Ã Ã In order to illustrate, Ill use the example of the telephone. The telephone was an ingenious invention that was combined with the innovation of a free thinker, Alexander Graham Bell. Bell created the first working telephone and the impact of the telephone on society, over the past 100 years, is immeasurable. The result of the telephone revolutionized communication, advancing society to another level. Inventions that advance society, such as this, demonstrate the value of a liberal arts education. In years past, more and more scientists, from an array of various fields, have elaborated upon the basic telephone by inventing different components to be used along with the telephone such as the facsimile machine and computer modems which enable communication via the internet. Ã Ã In short, a liberal arts education provides students with a strong foundation of universal knowledge that allows them to think without restrictions or barriers. Liberal arts allow imaginative thoughts to develop freely. Such imaginative thoughts lead to discoveries and inventions which, in turn, advance society to higher levels. It is evident that a liberal arts education is one of societys tools for advancement in a positive direction. Plagiarism Detection >

Propaganda - Essay Example This is because it has a way of distorting truths. The media helps in spreading propaganda to reach a wide target audience. The intention of the conveyer of the message is usually to create an understanding that is different from the peopleââ¬â¢s belief. For instance, a leader can use propaganda to propagate hate in communities. The leader can mislead the masses by giving them false information concerning the ongoing in the government. Interestingly, propaganda contains some element of truth as indicated by Jowett, Garth & Victoria (289). However, propagandist coats the lie with facts to deceive the audiences. Sometimes people who spread propaganda base their information on rumors in most circumstances. In addition, there are occasions when individuals spread propaganda unknowingly. Authorities use propaganda in justifying certain behaviors in the society. This mode of communication during the holocaust period appeared to support the heinous acts perpetrated by the supporters of the Nazi movement in Germany. Besides, I have come to realize that the use of propaganda can be beneficial of the society. For instance, campaigns to sensitize individuals in the community can take the form of propaganda. Consequently, the government can use it to eliminate fears among the masses by providing information concerning certain events in the society. There are times in which propaganda fails to reach its target audience. For example, the opponents of the ideology might receive propaganda aimed at convincing the supporters of a given ideology positively (Jowett, Garth & Victoria 307). Moreover, propaganda creates confusion when the message conveyed to the audience is incomplete. As such, it has contributed to rise of conflicts in the societies. The use of propaganda is not a new concept in the society. Records indicate that civilizations used it in communication during the 15th century. It began as a

Tech Effect Essay example -- Technology, The Internet
Tech Effect "The Internet is one of a series of aids developed over the last millennium or so that has increased the operational capacities of the average world citizen", (Stefanie Olsen, Sec. 2). With all the new technology so closely on hand, people are starting to wonder about the effects on society and the peoples true ability. The amount of technology in this new world has increased rapidly and is influencing our society by the way they think, the way they work, and by the way they interact socially. Over time new inventions come and go; however, the invention of technology is here to stay. Initially, the use of cell phones has inflated over time. "There are now estimated to be eight times as many mobile phones as fixed lines, three times as many mobile phones as personal computers, and nearly twice as many mobile phones as TV sets", (Niki Denison, Para 3). People are upgrading their technology from the old phones to the new mobile ones. These new phones now have some of the same qualities as personal computers have, such as Internet; therefore, who needs a big computer to access everything if a phone can do that? Phones also can show videos, episodes, and other information shown on TV. Additionally, some technology can imitate other technology. "About one in six (15%) of adults use the Internet, sometimes referred to as VoIP of Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol, to make telephone calls, ("Cell Phone Usage Continues in the USA," Para 3). This explains that people are using and relying on technology to interchange gadgets. Finally, technology is available for any age to use. " Surveys have revealed that teen ownership of cell phones has exploded, from less than half of U.S. teens in 2004 to 71 percent in 2008" ("Cell Phone Usa... ...and they should not fear that use of the Internet and mobile phones will send them ââ¬Ëinto a spiral of isolation," ("New study shows the Internet and mobile phones increase your social network," Para 15). Most people's lives are working out okay with technology, so why not jump on the band wagon? To conclude, people say society relies on technology to much, but it can't be a bad thing if it is bringing this world closer. The ways our society thinks, works, and interacts socially truly comes from our ability to use so much technology. Today's society is lucky enough to have technology at the tips of our fingers; however, what is technology doing to us and can we stop it or better it? ââ¬Å"The Internet is one of a series of aids developed over the last millennium or so that has increased the operational capacities of the average world citizenâ⬠, (Stefanie Olsen, Sec. 2). English Reflective Statement
I participated in an interactive oral discussion; about the novel by Nawal El Sadawi named ââ¬ËThe Woman at Point Zeroââ¬â¢. From the interactive oral, I was able develop a new idea which I had never thought of. The idea was that the characters in the novel were two dimensional, so that the main character Firdaus is able to change, which she is not. The idea stemmed from what Ashleigh said about how Firdaus has the power of rejection using her physical body.So I said that it was a delusion for women and what Firdaus does have, is the power to change. I developed it into the concept of change for the better, i. e. the ability to change and move forward in society. For example if Firdaus looked at the situation where she was being abused by her uncle and aunt, reviewed all the problems and then found a way to make the next situation better, which would the be domestic violence received from her husband Sheikh Mahmood. All in all, in a society like Egypt in the 1970ââ¬â¢s, fear was the most dominant way to have power, but its not removing the fear that allows the courage to change, itââ¬â¢s the knowledge of fear and moving forward anyway. Talking about fear, Brad brought up an interesting idea of Firdaus not being afraid of what normal people would be afraid of, but of something so delicate, eyes. He said something about how she was cautious and self conscious about being looked down upon and being watched over. Which made me ask the question, why she didnââ¬â¢t have the courage to change her fate, up until the moment she killed her pimp.

ââ¬ÅIf The Bible Can Be Described As Authoritative,. Where
ââ¬Å"If the Bible can be described as authoritative, Where does that authority originate?â⬠The authority of the Bible originates with God Himself. Godââ¬â¢s directions over the events in heaven and on earthââ¬â¢s history reveals His authority. However, the authority of the Word of God must be handle carefully. I gleaned to first start with the Torah or Pentateuch, which can be quite complicated. And yet, it is the first section of the Hebrew Scripture sanctified also accepted as authoritative in the religious community. Another key point, is the writings of the Torah, per Jewish tradition was dictated to Moses by God. Correspondingly, to understand where the authority originated is in interpreting the Torah. Chiefly, the Fiveâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦However, the events in the Bible were real historical circumstances experienced by real historical persons who lived also communicated in their own cultural framework. Not to mention, their language, their mode of communication, their understanding of the world around the m, their manners and customs were all, to some degree, products of their culture. In fact, to interpret the Torah and the Historical Books, understanding the name in which the Hebrew people knew God. Markedly, I also gleaned Elohist is the generic term for God considering the Hebrew people did not know Yahweh for God until the time of Moses. Therefore, if understanding correctly, to interpret the historical books, one must keep in mind the Hebrew was sensitive about history and their fundamental belief was that Yahweh was the God of all history also itââ¬â¢s process, His will and purpose. In my opinion, the Deuteronomic history interprets the real history while telling a true story. Giving meaning to the importance of the covenant, Yahwehââ¬â¢s will (to obey all will be well; to disobey evil will fall on them). This helps the interpreter understand how the material was structured also the source. However, Priestly history is material which is specifics aspects, tracing the way , the belief in the priority and heavily weighted towards the matters with which priests was concerned. Therefore, I agree with the author in interpreting the historical books.
